Highlights of the 2019 festival include lots of music sessions over the course of the weekend, a singing workshop and open singing session, a dance extravaganza, a barge trip on the Grand Canal and a guided historical walk of Sallins! We’re very proud to have our very own local band BunOsCionn on stage for our main festival concert, on Friday night this year. We will have our youth trad session with Sult Óg back again this year along with arts crafts and a circus-themed family show for kids, a treasure hunt, a circus skills workshop, a music workshop for young kids and our annual inter-school competition Gradam na Sollán!
There is something for everyone. Bainigí sult as - Enjoy it!
Welcome to Féile na Sollán 2019, our 7th weekend festival! Sult na Sollán is delighted that this special weekend festival will be back in Sallins, between 3 - 6 October 2019. The festival will be jam-packed with events for every age group with a celebration of language, music, dance and traditional songs of Ireland.
In the turbulent recent history of Northern Ireland, the Irish language has been accused of being politicised and polarising. What would inspire somebody from a Protestant, Unionist background to learn Irish and then become one of the language’s greatest advocates?
Linda Ervine will share her own inspiring story at this free event and will talk about the journey taken by the Turas Irish language centre in East Belfast.
